hear not my steps which way they go

This work emerges from Nostalgia - a longing for the homeland, the place where one was born and grew up, the culture one is connected to.

It is a reminder of something already known and an unearthing of something previously unknown. It reawakens a bond with the past, with its values and spirituality. The bread palette, used for making bread in the family, serves as a bridge to my personal past. It is a tool that lost its function but stands as a reminder of what brought family together. It was nourishment, the making and breaking of bread that bound people together, that bound man to nature and God.

These values, once re-embraced, bring new meaning and light into the present. The bread palette becomes the symbol for the grain of wheat that falls on the earth, dies and brings forth fruit.
